Support students who are Deafblind with the skills and confidence to make a lasting impact. Our Deafblind intervener certificate is designed for professionals working in PK-12 schools who support students with combined vision and hearing loss. Through flexible online coursework, you'll build the specialized knowledge needed to succeed as an intervener while preparing for the National Intervener Credential.
In CMU's Deafblind intervener certificate, you'll:
- Complete four asynchronous, eight-week courses in about one academic year
- Build your portfolio throughout the program to prepare for the National Intervener Credential
- Learn through accessible coursework with captioned videos
- Develop practical skills through simulations, coaching visits and coursework focused on deafblindness
You'll earn your certificate through one of only four higher education DeafBlind intervener programs in the United States and one of just five in the world.

Admission requirements
You must hold a high school diploma with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 or a GED. If your GPA is less than 2.0, conditional admission may be considered.
How much does an online Deafblind intervener certificate cost?
The cost shown below is based on the current tuition and fee estimate. Your actual cost of attendance for financial aid purposes may vary based on your assigned tuition rate, the number of credits you're enrolled in and the length of your enrollment period. If you're enrolled in a single module instead of a full semester, your housing and food, transportation and personal expenses will be adjusted based on the number of weeks you're enrolled (for example, 12-week or 8-week modules). If you're enrolled less than half-time, your cost of attendance will not include housing and food, personal expenses or loan fees.
