Earn an online finance certificate
An online finance certificate helps you build the skills needed to influence financial decisions through only a 9-12 credit commitment. The fully online format offers flexibility while delivering focused training in financial analysis, forecasting and investment strategy.
You can complete the program in as little as two semesters and immediately apply what you learn. In this online finance certificate, learning is grounded in real-world application. Coursework centers on project-based experiences that reflect modern financial challenges.
Your experience will include:
- learning to build forecasting models
- analyzing risk
- identify investment opportunities using real data
These skills prepare you for careers in financial analysis, portfolio management and investment management.
Path to your Master's of Business Administration
The certificate also supports your long-term goals. You can transfer up to 9 credits into CMU’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) and apply them toward your emphasis courses. This flexible path makes it easier to advance your education while gaining practical expertise you can use right away.

Admission requirements
You must hold a baccalaureate or equivalent degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 or, optionally, 3.0 in the final 60 semester hours of graded coursework toward the bachelor’s degree.
If you have an undergraduate GPA is less than 2.7, admission with stipulations may be possible.
How much does an online finance certificate cost?
The cost shown below is based on the current tuition and fee estimate. Your actual cost of attendance for financial aid purposes may vary based on your assigned tuition rate, the number of credits you're enrolled in and the length of your enrollment period. If you're enrolled in a single module instead of a full semester, your housing and food, transportation and personal expenses will be adjusted based on the number of weeks you're enrolled (for example, 12-week or 8-week modules). If you're enrolled less than half-time, your cost of attendance will not include housing and food, personal expenses or loan fees.
- Military tuition benefits: Active duty, veterans and military-affiliated students may qualify for reduced tuition, waived fees and need-based awards
